Hurstville Glory U10 @ Gala Day

Well, what can I say about today’s performance at Canterbury’s Under 10 Gala Day? It was clear from the start that the majority of teams who played today were highly skilled “A” grade teams with one particular team all decked out in matching tracksuits and backpacks that left some of us green with envy. We were also greeted with some familiar faces with Glory being one of 5 teams from the St George Association competing today.

Glory won 3 out of 4 games in our Group beating MR Soccer Academy along the way! Our 4th match was the final decider as to whether we would qualify for the quarter finals and our boys pulled through to become the overall winners in our Group.

Glory advanced to the quarter finals and with the result being nil all we won the game 3-2 based on corners. We therefore advanced through to the semi finals and were then up against the mighty Canterbury NB9 Academy team. Glory fought tooth and nail (and not to mention exhaustion) to give one of their finest performances to date against the NB9 Academy. We were in there with every chance and matched them kick for kick but Glory proudly went down 1 nil in extra time in a golden goal.

A fantastic effort from all our Glory Boys who exceeded way past our expectations of them today and who were also the only St George Association team to advance through to the semi finals. Glory finished up 3rd out of 24 teams who competed and all of us parents couldn’t be more proud of what they achieved today. A big thank you also to all my parents who gave up their Sunday to let their boys shine! A simply awesome effort – GO GLORY!
